What is the Rice Program Council?
About Rice Program Council
For nearly 50 years since its establishment on February 16, 1971, Rice Program Council has provided students with opportunities for campus-wide bonding and entertainment.
RPC’s goal is to provide the Rice undergraduate community with a diverse array of fun and memorable campus-wide social events throughout the year. While RPC is most known for Esperanza, our fall semester formal dance, our most popular event by far is Beer Bike.
Traditionally, our major fall events include: Screw-Yer-Roommate, Homecoming events, Esperanza, Gingerbread House Building competition, and the Fall Study Break. Our spring events include: Crush Party, Rondelet, Finals Study Break, and Beer Bike.
RPC also provides opportunities to go beyond the hedges and explore Houston through subsidized tickets provided by the Passport to Houston Committee. These include “Rice Nights” at the Houston Ballet, Symphony, Theatre, and Opera. Tickets are provided to the Houston Zoo Lights in the winter and Houston Rodeo in the spring.
